I have been hearing a lot about the benefits of drinking Apple Cider Vinegar as a detox.  Using ACV as part of a dietary “Cocktail” 2x a day.  For me, I am basically doing this to cleanse my “internal infrastructure”, (if you know what I mean.)  From healthier, shinier hair to joint relief,… I figured I better get my hands on this stuff! It is noted that you should drink this potion 2x a day to receive ultimate health benefits…I guess it is worth a shot or a double! After a while, ACV should go “down the hatch” easier. After about 10 days-2 weeks ACV will start providing a wide range of health benefits. Such as, and not limited to: controlling appetite, cravings, elimination of toxins in blood, & weight loss. Your body will become more alkaline and can ward off infections while giving you a healthier immune system.

Here is the ACV recipe 4 the Ultimate “Cocktail.”

1-2 teaspoons raw, unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) (organic)

1 tablespoon honey ( if you want, no necessary)
1 glass water 4oz-8oz

Holy Apple! Burns the Fat!

In the past, I wrote about the "mighty apple" and all of its' benefits. Well, here is another one, APPLES burn belly-fat!  This is exciting news for all of us. As I have said in the past, the apple has received some "sour" notes, but you can not deny the fruitful benefits.  If you follow these easy steps below with a steady exercise regime, your  New Year will have a GREEN start!   BTW -  water, oatmeal, fish, & carrots  - are foods that have been around for thousand of years....they are the fruit of the earth.  Simple foods, brings non-stressful lifestyles which heightens immunities that help us battle disease. 

1. Water. Drink lots of water if you are trying to lose belly fat. Your body will not be able to function properly if you are not drinking enough water. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
 

2.  Apples. You've always heard the saying "An apple a day will keep the doctor away". Well now you can add the saying "An apple a day will keep the belly fat away". Studies suggest that pectin contained in apples limits how much fat your cells can absorb.

3. Oatmeal Oatmeal is an excellent example of whole grains that your body needs to burn bell fat. Oatmeal not only provides whole grains, but it also provides fiber!

4 Fish Fish provides your body with lean proteins and Omega 3's. If you don't like fish then you can eat Beans. Beans are also an excellent source of protein for the body. Without the right amount of protein, your body will not be a fat burning machine!

5. Carrots Carrots contain carotene. Carotene is a form of Vitamin A that literally flushes your body of fat and waste quickly. Carotene is transformed into Vitamin A in your intestines and will help speed up your metabolism. The faster your metabolism, the faster your body burns fat.



What I do:  I eat about 2-3 apples daily.  I try to have a big bowl of oatmeal every day. Sometimes, for lunch with a bandanna, drizzle with honey! Fish - I love it!  I get it fresh.  Eat it about 1x a week. Flounder and Salmon are my favorite.  Broil it with olive oil and bread crumb on top.  Carrots, I eat all day long. As a snack, around three O'clock, and at night when I crave something sweet!

APPLETINI

Our version of the Apple Martini.
This popular martini may have help save the Martini! The ladies love the sweetness, guys like the bite. Adjust the apple pucker to taste and keep it really cold. It’s best to chill both the vodka and the apple pucker.

2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Apple Pucker Schnapps or,
1/2 oz. Apple Juice or Cider
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with an Apple Slice

Around the holiday's we look to take short cuts. We are rushing about trying to save time, even when beauty calls!  I love the fake lash look, but refuse to wear the Faux. I have a lot of clients asking me about "lashes". How to apply mascara and what is the best application trick that I can offer. I really don't believe in lash extensions and I refuse to wear "stick-on's"/Faux" - therefore, I have devised a new technique on applying mascara. I am going to share my 1-2-3 steps for a feathery and flattering lashes that are all "yours!" First, grab your eyelash curler - then the key to faking the "Fauxies" is "Tipping" the tops of  lashes. Hold the wand at a  30 degrees, straight down. Then follow through by grabbing lashes from the bottom and pulling up to the top, giving them a "wiggle." Lashes  need drying time between coats. For a lush look...3x coats of mascara is best. For a lighter look, use one coat and a brownish/black color. Give a "pop" to your eyes by adding a "contrasting" color to rims. Going for a  natural "big lash" look is one that I like best. Highlight brow bone with a bit of warm golds/Ambers tend to look good on all skin tones. http://www.eyeonbeauty.info

Greedy Society -   Cold Holiday at Heart 
GREED is one word that I dislike when describing the holidays. Not only is "Greed" evident in our daily lives, it has tarnished and diminished the true meaning of the holiday spirit.  We all know that we live in a self-centered society with meaningless materialist ways of living and thinking.  So, as I sit warm in my home, drinking hot cocoa, I can not disregard the coldness of the holidays at heart. We sense it - even in  “our own backyards.”  Every year I take this time to recap and rediscover the goodness that is still “green” in my heart and life. I walk in the “other mans shoes” – humanity, that is not as fortunate as I, and is hardly “warm” enough for the holidays.  This is how I cleanse my body, mind and soul.  For me, this is the one way; I refresh my senses for the New Year.  I am thankful for my family and my new friends in EYE ON GREEN Magazine.  There is no greed -only Green here -  only generosity and heart warming caring. Educating for all that seek a “greener” walk of life.

What happened to Eden’s Apple?

The apple – has been getting some “rotten” reviews.  Eve  - ate the “forbidden” fruit in the Garden of Eden and changed mortality as we know it. However, we should not betray the “apple” for all of the nutrition benefits that it provides. The apple is providing us very wholesome news – actually, in my opinion, it should be re-instated in the “Nutritional Bible Book of Facts”.  Let’s slice up the apple for all the good, all the bad and the very rotten. 

Get the “Juice” on the Apple of today.

First, what happed to Apple Juice?  Did you know that - The FDA currently does not regulate arsenic levels in fruit juices? …WHAT! – This is outrageous! Apple juice is the “go to beverage” for many young children.

What happen to the “apple” of today? the purity? the old cliché of  keeping the doctor away?  The fact is, the apple of today -  is not the same apple of 5,000 years ago. Recent studies from Consumer reports found all samples of  apple juice that were tested contained discernible arsenic samples; nine of them, or 10 percent of the total, were found to have arsenic levels that exceeded the drinking-water limit of 10 parts per billion.  The good news is - the arsenic found in many of the apple juices are of the non-organic varieties. One more good reason to buy “organic” juice, and apples as well.  Organic is better – but will not protect you from the residual effects of arsenic pesticides that were used long ago. The question is - what did they do to the apple?  The likely main source of contamination both in the United States and abroad, Consumer Reports reckons, is soil tainted with arsenate pesticides, which have been banned for decades in the US but persist in soil. What would EVE do today with Eden’s Apple?

First, she would not eat it – fresh off the “forbidden” tree. She would think twice about the repercussions for herself and her family -  for more reasons than the one we know best.

She would re-evaluate the “Apple” before she took her first bite!

1. Wash thy apple for 30 seconds in luke warm water. Scrub with a small kitchen brush, dish towel or damp fig leaf - if you desire.

2. Peel the skin off the apple – pesticides stick to the apples skin. Peeling the skin rids you of ingesting the chemicals.

3. Buy organic if you can. It is still the best option especially, when purchasing fruit such as apples.

Green Apple Seeds of Thought -

The “apple” is wholesome and by far a beneficial fruit.  Gathered and stored 5,000 years ago. It will still be the “go to” fruit for today for the next 5,000 or so years.  The “apple” will never be on the forbidden fruit list.  This simple and delicious fruit will always be valued in it’s most uncomplicated form for just being an “apple.”  If Eve were around today - she would know this truth best.
