The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics found these chemicals linked to cancer in L’Oreal products on store shelves:

• Benzophenone-1 in L’Oreal Colour Riche and Maybelline Color Show nail polishes
• Carbon black in L’Oreal eye liner 
• Titanium dioxide (in inhalable form) in L’Oreal eye shadows and Maybelline blushes and pressed powders
• Formaldehyde releasing preservatives 
• DMDM hydantoin in L’Oreal Kids shampoos
• Imidazolidinyl urea in L’Oreal mascaras, eye shadows, and both L’Oreal and onMaybelline brand eye liners
• Diazolidinyl urea in facial toner, BB cream
• Quaternium-15 in Maybelline Great Lash mascaras

In addition, the Campaign found four ingredients that are possibly contaminated with carcinogens:

• Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which can be contaminated with PFOA in L’Oreal eye shadows and Garnier anti-aging products; and
• Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl ether, which can be contaminated with PFOA in L’Oreal eye shadows
• Polyacrylamide, which can be contaminated with acrylamide in Garnier anti-aging products
• Talc (in inhalable form), which can be contaminated with asbestiform fibers in L’Oreal eye shadows and Maybelline blushes and pressed powders.

Consumer demand for safe cosmetics is changing the marketplace.  According to industry analysts, natural cosmetics reached $30 billion in global sales in 2013 an increase of 10.6 percent. This trend is due in large part to growing consumer concerns about toxic chemicals in cosmetics.

L’Oreal is the second target of the Campaign’s Cosmetics Without Cancer Campaign. In October, the Campaign called on Procter & Gamble (P&G), the nation’s largest maker of personal care products, to remove carcinogens from its products. More than 100,000 people sent letters or signed petitions asking Procter & Gamble to take immediate action to eliminate cancer-causing chemicals from its brands including Cover Girl, Max Factor, Pantene, Olay, Herbal Essences, and Miss Jessie’s hair products.

Due to an outdated and weak federal law regulating the safety of cosmetics, none of the cancer-causing chemicals identified in L’Oreal products have been banned – or are even restricted – for use in cosmetics in the U.S., despite the fact that all have been identified as carcinogens by respected, scientific authoritative bodies.

A legislative proposal to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s more statutory authority to regulate cosmetics, including banning cancer-causing chemicals, was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Il) in 2009, 2011 and again in 2013.

Kennel Cough Cure Green Reciepe

Since I have my new puppy SALLY, I noticed that she seemed to be coughing. At first, when she coughed, I though she was going to vomit. To my surprise she was trying to loosen the phlegm in her throat, just as a human would do when we have a cold. Sally has been in and out of Kennels, been shipped between 2 different states, before making it to New Jersey. We know as humans, usually when we are under stress it is so easy to catch something.... like a cough and a cold. As with myself I always try natural remedies before seeking out my doctor. I truly do believe natural remedies do the job of major drugs, sometimes even better than I am willing to admit. I researched Kennel Cough. It is very common for dogs to catch this. It is the Cough & cold of our Canine friends. I did not want to go to the vet. I wanted to try a natural remedy for her. I started to Google Kennel Cough, natural remedies and came upon a great link. 1 small cup of warm water
1 Tablespoon of Honey
                                                 1/ 2 tablespoon of lemon juice

Sally is only 18lbs, so I gave her 1 full 5ml and then repeated again if I heard the cough after 1 hour. I continued to give Sally Kennel Cough Medicine for 5 days. After the second day, I was starting to see a difference. Sally has been with me for 1 week and I can tell you that this remedy has worked for her.
Something to think about. Make sure your doggie's water bowl has fresh water everyday. I changed her water 3 times and made sure she was drinking. Just like us, we must drink fluids when we are sick.... and guess what - this doggie cough remedy can be used for children (check age, honey is not for infants) and is also a great soothing soar throat cure for yourself! How 2 Shed the last 5 lbs!

It's August. Summer is finally coming to a close. You had fun, you drank , you ate, and indulged in one too many BQ's.  Stepping on the scale is depressing.  More depressing than thinking about chilly weather - perhaps, is noticing that your clothes don't fit??  OMG!! What happened!!   Let's not get crazy just yet! We've all been there. It is so hard to loose the last 5 lbs.  Here are quick tips on loosing the lazy summer wait gain and how to motivate your rear end.

Motivations
1. Kids are back to school. Translates to more "take care of me" time.
2. Rise and shine - go to bed on time. A well rested girl is a less hungry girl. Seriously, it is a true fact.
3. Push yourself at the gym. Change up your routine. Now is the time. Have a goal.  Try to walk or run 1 mile in 15 minutes. If you are just starting out - run for 1 minute - change to brisk walk for 1 minute. Walk - run - walk - run repeat for 10 minutes.
4. Eat!! Of course you know you have to eat to keep your metabolism working.  Here's a tip.  Add organic peanut butter and celery for a snack.  Have 1 egg for breakfast. No toast please. Unless it is organic multigrain - 1 slice. Have lean protein for lunch. Have a very light dinner. No carbohydrates. Although you can have 1 cup of whole grain pasta ( organic) with diced olives, diced tomatoes and zucchini!  Simmer in olive oil and garlic for 5 minutes. Very satisfying and low in calories.
By the of the week, I bet you will loss at least 1 to 2 pounds.  Still not motivated.... In about 2 weeks your body will be ready to loose the last 3 or more.  You see, your body has a new goal: to stay fit and to burn more fat.  Look in the mirror those saddle bags are melting away.

Here is what NOT TO DO -

1. Eating too much gluten free can pack on the pounds. Hey, did you know a gluten-free diet can actually make you gain wtg. "A processed carb. Is a processed carb anyway you slice it!" Usually these items are packed with preservatives and sugar to make them taste good.  Stay away from them. Pick on a hand-full of nuts such as almonds, fat free yogurt - carrots, or fruit.

2. Watch out for pesticide treated produce.  Please spend the extra bucks and by organic.  You see the pesticide residue can increase your appetite. Chemically damage our digestive enzymes and disrupt our bodies from loosing wtg.

3. Beware of Bad Juice. Not all juice is created equal. Most of them are just sugared water! Sucrose, or sugar substitutes are all sugars in another form.  My recommendation would be fresh water, with cut up cucumbers and mint.  My favorite is brewing my own ice tea. Chill over night with a twist of lemon and lime. 

Maybe the best way to loosing Weight is to eat REAL food after all!

More on that later... You would think that most Entrepreneurs are people that just have endless bucks to blow?  Myth #1 - not so.  Most Entrepreneur's don't have any extra pocket money. They usually have full-time jobs. Myth #2. Entrepreneurs, are just pushy sales men.  The Entrepreneurs that I know have 3 and 4 business opportunities that they currently explore simultaneously .  They may tell you about a "great opportunity" but a good Entrepreneur has the "know how" to execute the opportunity.  They are savvy about niche markets, and can tell you about current trends. The Entrepreneur will let you decide on how to proeed on an opportunity.  #2 Myth, foiled!  Now for #3 Myth exposed - Entrepreneurs are opportunist, flighty, and have no follow through skills.  Explaining the "flightless" of the Entrepreneur?  I can explain this characteristic best.  You may witness a Entrepreneur that seems to have their hands-in-everything.  A "fly by night" "head in the clouds," type A personality, fishing around for the next "big deal.". How 2 layer scents

What is the Stink'in idea about layer scents?  It's kinda like baking a cake...  Layering scents can be a luxurious 2-3 step process. First, let's take the word "process" out of the equation.  Processed perfumes mean "stinking" as appossed to natural scenting. For perfume lovers, please select your fragrance carefully.  There has been a big "stir" on toxicities in perfumes and my other toiletry products.   Did you ever think about why they call perfumes "toilet water?".   It is hard to believe but many big brand products use substances such as preservatives to expand the shelf life of beauty products.... and it has nothing to do with water!  Alcohol, formaldehyde, parabens, phalates.... are just a few to avoid. Your plan for layering scents is the following:
First, cleans skin or area before your apply
Second, Shake bottle to mix fragrance oil. Third, Cream it First - with a companion scent butter, then apply perfume oil over the cream.

1.  Find your pulse points.

Men you have pulse points too!  My favorites pulse points for men, as many women would agree are -
Wrists: I love a guy that puts fragrance on his wrists, so when he touches my face, I get a pleasant whiff.
Neck: Necks are a must, especially on the nape of the neck, behind ears, (not on ears lobes) but best when you place a bit of oil through your hair.

2. Other hot spots for scenting?
Small of your back - zero in on a big scent right above your bum.
In between the legs, and back of thighs:  - so when you leave him or her, your scent will guild your lover back! 
Hair:  place some oil on the back of your locks.  The breeze through your hair will naturally diffuse the scent.  I will never forget the time when a male friend of my, actually put his entire nose in my hair.... and said, "I never smelled hair this good.". yes, true story.

3. His Naval:  This is like total JOY for a woman to spend time around that area when the naval  smells delicious! But please, make sure there is NO FUZZ in your bellybutton.... unless, it is scented! ...lol

 "Put your money where your mouth is".... " "You win some, you loose some," are most frequently used business lingo, but how about the clichés that we dislike such as "Good Guys, Finish Last."   The reason why I hate the last one?...  Most people believe you have to be the BAD GUY to be successful.  Many people feel that you have to be a Pr***, as soon as you enter the virtual business front door.  I am sorry ladies and gentlemen this just isn't so.  I have worked for many Pr***'s indeed. Men and women alike, That I have nicknamed them as "Richards", aka DICK's of  today's business world.  I have to let DICK know, you will sadly loose your integrity and sex appeal quickly.  The point is, never to loose it in the first place.  Use some powerful words to win in the office and gain some respect for DICK.  Do you know the 2 most powerful business words?  Two words to delight your employees upon seeing them in the AM?  "GOOD MORNING.". wins - on the way in the door and into the hearts of the people that work for you.   Does "Good Morning", do DICK justice?  Well, I did a test drive of using the power of "Good Morning" On many of my assignments.

How 2 use COCONUT OIL/Recipe

I have written HOW 2's on ways to use natural oils for skin care.  You many have read about the many uses of ARGAN oil - the Miracle oil of the century, as it has many anti-aging benefits for Skincare.  I have recently discovered the many beauty benefits with COCONUT oil.  Organic EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL.... indeed!

1. USE COCONUT OIL for cooking.  DID YOU KNOW that COCONUT OIL  is one of the world's most nutritional foods?  It is in fact, "better than butter," replacement on bread, as it has 100% less cholesterol than butter. AS it is made without pesticides, GMO's or Hexane.  COCONUT oil has one more customer, I now use ORGANIC COCONUT oil for my vegetables and snacking on popcorn.  I will not give up my EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL (OLV)  I just supplement it with with COCONUT OIL.  Actually, you can cook COCONUT oil on high-heat up to 350 degrees, as with olive oil, this is impossible. OLIVE oil properties looses it's potency on high-heat.

2.  COCONUT OIL as you know has many beauty benefits, It is a heavier oil than ARGAN, and a little bit goes a long way.  I love using COCONUT oil around my eyes for eye makeup removal. Any bit of oil that remains regenerates the skin around my eyes. Loosing wrinkles and setting back father time sounds good to me! 

3.  COCONUT oil HAIR MASK.  I enjoy using COCONUT OIL for a hair mask.  My hair is fine, and has lost it's luster due to dying and highlighting.  COCONUT Oil has brought back my luscious sprouts!.  Here is my secret COCONUT OIL Hair Mask Recipe. 

1/2 tablespoon of COCONUT OIL in a bowl warm to room temp or micro for 30 sec.
- slather on oil from mid-way of hair shaft, down to ends, until hair is mildly greasy
- stay on head for 1 hour
- rinse out with gentle shampoo of your choice. I use sulfate free!

* style as usual
* hair will be soft and supple again

*If your hair is coarse, my recommendation would be to sleep with a cap overnight. Wash in the morning.
*Do the COCONUT OIL MASK 1 x  or. 2x.   a month

Embrace the Belly Ache

Why do we get belly aches?   How about  those terrible gas pains that go bump in the nigh?  It could be a virus or it could be indigestion?  Last time I had a belly ache,  I realized I had a virus. Some of my symptoms were flu-like.  Nausea , no vomiting, but very close. Stomach cramps. No appetite for days and body aches.   I decided to embrace being sick, and cut some calories while doing so.  I couldn't eat anyway.  Maybe I can repair my body from the inside out. Can it be done?  Here is how I turned my Belly Ache into a 7 day detox.

1.  Lay off all sugar.  No chocolate, no baked item, pastries 
2. No fats, no dairy; not even yogurt
3. obviously, no meats.
4. no snacks, nothing salty.

I  realized I was eating  a whole bunch of items that were not satisfying. Even a little bit of these foods, were not doing my body any good.  I also realized that my stomach got very flat.  Right now, I was living on ginger ale, and some saltines.   I couldn't think of putting anything inside me that was sweet or gooey.

By the next day, I was starting to gain my energy back.  I was off the couch.  I lost 3 pounds, but I felt better.   Since 10 days, I have been laying off all sweets and snacking.  I found out that I am glucose intolerant.  It was the yogurt, and dairy products, like cheeses...yuk!  Guess what, since I haven't had the sweets or the carbs, I am not craving them anymore!  Is this magic???

My belly ache for 7 days was the best cleanse of my life!

Well, if you are an artist, I guess you know what I mean.  A Muse is the “apple of the artist eye.”  Now, one can have a muse or not, but I can attest that having a muse, has ignited my inner energy.  Now, let’s not mistake a Muse with a love affair.  I have affairs with my art, but I need my Muse to keep my creative juices flowing.  My Muse gets me out of bed, and leads my creative soul to places it has never been before.  I did not find, my Muse at local drive-thru or with my dry-cleaning pick-up.  My muse has been with me for about three years.  It was only this past 12 months that my muse is now a part of my artful life.  My Muse can lift me hirer than any drug on this planet.  I don’t like hangovers, my Muse is my drug.  The Monarch of all Muses.
